India sent its top diplomats to Nepal two days ago and now the Defense Minister of China is also preparing to die on his visit to Nepal. The Kathmandu Post report said that Nepal’s Foreign Ministry has not given information about this, but officials of the PM Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have told that China’s State Councilor and Defense Minister Wei Fenghe are coming to Kathmandu in late November.
Three high-level visits were made one after another from India within a month and a half before Wei’s arrival. The Kathmandu Post report claimed that after India’s Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla returned to New Delhi, the most senior minister of the Chinese cabinet, Li Keqiang, would arrive in Kathmandu. However, Foreign Minister spokesman Seva Lamsal has said, “There is no concrete information to share right now.”
Chinese Ambassador met
Significantly, these days, the Communist Party of Nepal is once again in turmoil. Party’s co-chair Pushp Kamal Dahal has sought the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. After this, Chinese Ambassador Hou Yankee met the PM and discussed saving the government. During this, the visit of the Defense Minister was fixed. Diplomats and experts are of the opinion that visits to India and China are evidence of ongoing rivalry within Nepal.
China has kept an eye
Security analyst and columnist Giza Sharma Waghale has said that China has closely monitored Nepal. Especially in view of the border dispute with India. Waghale says that the Chinese are being activated by political, diplomatic military positions. The visit to China after the visit of the Foreign Secretary of India also has diplomatic and military significance.
Sought 10 days time
The much-awaited important meeting of the party’s Central Secretariat took place on Wednesday but the deadlock could not be resolved. In response to Pushp Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ allegations of running the government without consulting the party, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli demanded 10 days’ time to present a separate political document.
