Macron: Shoigu’s words in the conversation between defense ministers were threatening
French President Emmanuel Macron spoke about the telephone conversations between the Russian and French defense ministers Sergei Shoigu and Sebastien Lecornu. The French leader called comments from the Russian side a threat.
Minister of Defense [Франции] made a fact-based report [по итогам переговоров], as ministers usually do after negotiations with their colleagues. Some of the comments from the Russian side were actually strange and threatening
According to him, he made such conclusions based on a “fact-based” report prepared by Lecornu following the negotiations.
Negotiations between Shoigu and Lecornu took place in a raised voice
As journalists from the German publication Der Spiegel reported, the negotiations between the defense ministers of the two countries “took place in a rather rude tone.” The authors of the material noted that during the conversation, Shoigu warned Lecornu against sending French soldiers to Ukraine, and also pointed out the Ukrainian trace in the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall.
Der Spiegel notes that after the conversation between the heads of the Ministry of Defense, France denied its readiness for negotiations on the Ukrainian conflict, and also emphasized that defense ministers talk quite rarely. Thus, according to journalists, Shoigu’s last negotiations with his colleague from France took place a year and a half ago. “Now Sergei Shoigu and Sebastien Lecornu were talking on the phone, and the tone, apparently, was quite rude,” the authors of the article emphasized.

Macron said that he has useful information about the organization of the terrorist attack in Crocus

I have indeed asked the director of services and the relevant minister to hold technical discussions, (…) primarily to express solidarity and because we have useful information – I will not disclose it here – about the origin and organization of this terrorist attack
First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Svetlana Zhurova, responding to Macron’s words, emphasized that countries should share information with each other about upcoming terrorist attacks. “[Сокрытие данных] – this is considered incorrect. Countries must share this information,” she said.
Zhurova explained that terrorists’ communications can be wiretapped by intelligence services in different countries. “In this regard, each country signs an agreement and undertakes to inform each other,” the deputy added.
Lecornu, in a conversation with Shoigu the day before, noted that Paris is ready to increase ties with Moscow in order to combat terrorism. “He [Лекорню] reminded us of France’s readiness, as we have always done in the face of terrorism, to increase cooperation in order to more effectively combat this threat,” the French Ministry of Defense reported.
