Nearly 300 workers from the Cantabrian Regional Tourism Promotion Society (Cantur) gathered this Thursday against the privatization of Alto Campoo hospitality services in front of the Santander Stage, coinciding with the presentation of the ski resort season in which the Minister of Tourism, Luis Martínez Abad, participated.
This is the first mobilization called by the Works Committee after learning of the award of the La Corza Blanca Hotel, the El Chivo cafeteria and the ski resort’s own cafeteria to the company SNÖ Hotels.
The Works Committee has stressed during the concentration, in which the S-20 has been closed to traffic at the height of the concert hall, that “h“Today the discomfort of Cantur’s staff has become clear, who feel disappointed and deceived by this Government.”
Thus, the union representation has assured that “this public-private collaboration agreement and beginning to privatize these facilities is a pure and simple political decision of the Popular Party, arguing with deceptions such as the accounts of these four years, which have not yet been sent. to the Company Committee”. Regarding these accounts, the Committee will request them “so that it is clear that it is not true.”
Given this situation and with a first protest “which has been a success”, the Business Committee, which is made up of CCOO, UGT, USO, CSIF and SU, will meet soon to define the next steps and actions to denounce and reject the project. privatization, “because the workers of Cantur do not deserve this treatment and we will fight to reverse it.”
During the season, about 70 people work in these facilities with permanent, permanent, discontinuous or temporary contracts in the job pools, in addition to the reception and maintenance staff at the hotel.
