The Federal National Council, in its session scheduled to be held next Tuesday, chaired by the Speaker of the Council, Saqr Ghobash, adopts 12 parliamentary recommendations on the subject of “the Ministry of Community Development’s policy regarding the development of the social security system”, after it approved them in a previous session and returned them to the Social Affairs and Labor Committee. And the population and human resources of the Council, to introduce the amendments and reformulation in accordance with the agreed upon among the members of the Council.
The list of parliamentary recommendations to be referred to the government to take the necessary action included “amending the legislation regulating social security, according to economic and social variables, with a precise and clear definition of the concept of social security, adding a category (who has no work) as a category entitled to social assistance, defining benefits for maternity Introducing articles concerned with covering health care costs for the contributor in the insurance system and his family for treatment in government and private hospitals, and the necessity of applying governance standards when studying cases benefiting from social security, according to their economic and social conditions and data, and not only studying cases according to their categorical classification.
The recommendations also included “the establishment of a social security committee that includes representatives from the Ministry of Community Development and the membership of the relevant government agencies such as: housing and health, in addition to local bodies with similar jurisdiction to the ministry, to ensure coordination and integration of efforts and management of social security services, through a single system that links health and insurance services Health, material and food aid, and housing, for easy access to needy individuals and families, which contributes to achieving the country’s vision of sustainable development goals and the quality of life strategy.
It also included “adopting operational activities to study the qualifications and need of those who are able to work in the social security base, to find job opportunities compatible with their capabilities and skills, and to give them priority in employment in coordination with the competent authorities, and the need to expand the launch of qualitative initiatives to improve the family’s standard of living, support its stability, enhance its position and advance its development.” In turn, it becomes a key partner in social and economic development.
