Basketball world champion Franz Wagner was eliminated with the Orlando Magic in the first round of the NBA playoffs. At the defending champion Boston Celtics, the Underdog conceded an 89:120 swatter in game five on Wednesday night. Wagner was the best thrower of his team with 25 points, but did not hit either of his four three. Tristan da Silva stayed without a counter in four minutes. For Boston, wing player Jayson Tatum put 35 points.
In the best-of-Seven series, Orlando lost 1: 4. For Wagner, it was the second round of 16 in his second playoff participation. In the previous year, the Florida team failed at the Cleveland Cavaliers in seven games. This year Wagner and Co. can look back on a difficult season with many injuries, among other things Wagner’s brother Moritz was missing due to a cruciate ligament tear over long distances.
Boston could now meet Wagner’s national team colleague Dennis Schröder in the quarter -finals. The captain of Manila’s gold heroes turned the end with the Detroit Pistons for the time being. At the New York Knicks, the team from “Motor City” won 103: 106 and forced a game six. Schröder scored 14 points from the bank in 22 minutes. In the series, Detroit is 2: 3 behind, the next duel rises to Michigan on Friday (1.30 a.m.).
Giannis Antetokounmpo is meanwhile out of the title race. At the Indiana Pacers, the Greek model athlete with the Milwaukee Bucks lost 118: 119 after extra time – and thus also the series 1: 4. Although Antetocounmpo achieved a triple double from 30 points, 20 rebounds and 13 assists, he could not help his team to win. The Pacers are dealing with the main round -round Cleveland in the quarterfinals.
