Unprecedented unscheduled in the highlight of the race. The animal rights advocate wore a blue T-shirt with a message of protest against factory farming
Rome – It will go down in the history of US professional basketball as the strangest interruption. Halfway through a fiery playoff challenge, the giants on the pitch had to stop because a petite 19-year-old chained herself to the basket. In the general surprise, with the stands crowded with fans, the match was temporarily suspended pending an intervention that was anything but easy by the stewards and security officers.
Singular protest
The young woman chained herself to the basket causing the NBA playoff match between Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves to be stopped with 4 minutes and 4 seconds remaining in the second quarter. The girl, an animal rights advocate, wore a blue T-shirt with a message protesting the farms of one of the co-owners of the Minnesota franchise. A similar situation occurred earlier this week when another woman walked in and lay down on the hardwood during a Timberwolves game.
Chain
Zoe Rosenburg, 19, had a chain with her and managed to tie herself to the base of a basket. Stewards and security officers then removed the chain from her neck and took her away from the venue where the match was taking place, which then resumed and ended with Minnesota’s 130-117 victory. The woman was arrested and incarcerated in Shelby County Jail on charges of “tampering with public order and trespassing.”
