NATO | Coalition Party Orpo criticizes Prime Minister Marinia for closing NATO door: “Not in line with foreign and security policy report”

Coalition Party chairman Petteri Orpo criticizes the Prime Minister Sanna Marinia (sd) of this recent NATO commentary.

In Orpo’s opinion, Marin’s comments are not in line with Finland’s foreign and security policy report.

Marin said in a Reuters interviewthat it is “very unlikely” that Finland will apply for NATO membership during this term.

“I think that when we have a relatively new foreign and security policy report, which clearly states that Finland will retain its potential [hakea Nato-jäsenyyttä], so the prime minister should not close it. Not even for a limited time, ”Orpo tells HS.

“Our independent right to apply, it has to be active,” he continues.

Orpon Marin’s comment was specifically about closing the NATO door, albeit for a limited time.

Orpo states that there is more uncertainty in the world around Finland than in decades.

“In a time like this, the opportunity to apply must be.”

Coalition has long supported NATO membership.

Recently, Orpo demanded in publicthat other parties would also open up their NATO positions and give “content” to talk about the so-called NATO option.
