The Emirates International Endurance Village in Al Wathba will launch the “2021-2022” season, tomorrow, Saturday morning, with the National Endurance Day Cup race, for a distance of 120 km, over four stages, with the participation of the most prominent jockeys and knights representing the various equestrian stables and clubs in the country.
The event is held under the patronage, support and follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and the National Day Cup race is considered one of the most important tournaments in the “calendar”, and it attracts the attention of jockeys and coaches who are looking to put their fingerprints in the championship record, and the tournament was not organized. Last season, due to the delay in starting the season, was organized by the Emirates International Endurance Village in Al Wathba, in coordination with the Equestrian and Racing Federation, with attractive financial prizes.
The village was decorated with the “Expo 2020 Dubai” slogan, in order to consolidate the position of the distinguished global event hosted by the UAE, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to manage the village by placing the slogan of “Expo 2020 Dubai” in the village, during the races and activities that it organizes during the season. The current year, which coincides with the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the state.
Procedures for weighing the jockeys and veterinary examinations of the horses were carried out to approve their participation, and after that, light exercises were conducted for the horses, in order to activate and adapt to the track floor, and to ensure complete readiness.
The organizing committee provided an enlightenment in which it explained all the technical details, and the committee established a number of controls that jockeys and trainers must abide by, including not overcrowding inside the veterinary gate, and only two people are allowed to enter, and anyone who tries to delay the horse is subject to punishment, and the accompanying crew is not allowed to be in the entrance Veterinary portal.
It is worth noting that Al Wathba Stables holds the record for winning rates with a score of “5 stars”, which came through the jockey Ali Khalfan Al-Jahuri on the “Cupid” horse in 2007, and the second victory came through the jockey Ali Yousef Al Hammadi on the “Mansoura” horse in 2013.
The third and fourth victory came through Khalifa Ali Khalfan Al-Jahouri on the “8 Minute” horse in 2015, and the “Tra Jet” horse in 2016, while the fifth victory was achieved by the jockey Diana Yamila Shupita on the “Thama Sovgen” horse in 2017.
The Knights of the “F3 Stables” are seeking to achieve the fourth “Super Hattrick” victory in the National Day Cup title, as its riders hold the title of the past two editions, and the jockey Saeed Ahmed Jaber Al-Harbi was crowned on the horse “Alisha” with the title of the 2019 edition, and the Harbi Knight succeeded in winning the title after He covered the total distance of the race with a total time of 4:11:18 hours, and an average speed of 28.65 km per hour.
As for the 2018 edition, the jockey Abdullah Ghanem Al-Marri won on horseback “Selger”, recording 4:14:59 hours, with an average speed of 28.23 km per hour, while Abdullah Ghanem Al-Marri scored the first victory over “Quran Al-Alam” in 2014.
Seih Al-Salam stables recorded three victories, through the cavalry Ali Muhammad Al-Muhairi on the “Sudan” horse in 2008, Fatima Jassim Al-Marri on the “Toble Maker” in 2011, and Ali Riyad Al-Kaabi via “Taka” in 2012.
Musallam Al Ameri, Director General of the Village, valued the care and support of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the village and the races it organizes and hosts, welcoming all participants in the National Day Cup race and the country is celebrating the fiftieth year.
He added: The village is ready to host the race and make every effort, in order to provide a distinctive competitive atmosphere for the participants, to present their best technical levels.
For his part, Mohammed Al-Hadrami, the village’s event manager, confirmed the readiness of the work team to host and organize the National Day Cup race, pointing out that all elements of logistical and technical support were provided, to get the race out in the best way.
He said: The race always enjoys the participation of elite jockeys who seek to win a title that bears the name of an occasion dear to all of us.
