The National Biosecurity Committee held a meeting yesterday, in which it reviewed a number of important vital files to enhance its vision towards achieving sustainable biosecurity in the UAE.
The files included the repercussions of weather conditions on public health, follow-up of developments in updating the national biosecurity framework, and ways to monitor biological risks and threats that have become a source of concern to the entire world, and take preventive measures against them.
The meeting – which was hosted by the Ministry of Defense – was chaired by the Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al-Dahhak, who affirmed full appreciation for the efforts of the authorities entrusted with enhancing the country’s biosecurity, and their endeavor to ensure sustainable biosecurity at all times.
She said: “We place following up on emerging biological risks and threats in the world among the state’s most important priorities, which is embodied by working through an integrated system that includes creating the legislative structure, laws and decisions regulating this regard, as well as implementing initiatives and projects within the strategy of the national framework for biosecurity, and developing Necessary precautions for all emerging global risks and biological threats.”
Ways to limit the repercussions of weather conditions on public health, following up on the efforts of the national campaign to combat mosquitoes, and learning about efforts to keep pace with developments in updating biosecurity guidelines were discussed.
