D.he manager of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, Nathalie Maillet, was murdered. As the Belgian media reported on Monday, citing the investigating public prosecutor, she and another woman were killed by her husband Franz Dubois. He called the police shortly before midnight on Saturday evening to confess what he had done and to announce his own suicide. When the officers arrived at the scene, they also found Dubois dead.
At first nothing was known about the background of the crime. “I am shocked and saddened by the sudden death of Nathalie Maillet. All my thoughts and my solidarity go to her family, her friends and the Spa-Francorchamps teams ”, said the President of the World Automobile Federation (FIA), Jean Todt. On August 29th, Formula 1 will take part in the first race after the summer break in Spa.
Melchior Wathelet, Chairman of the Circuit Board of Directors, said: “None of us can believe this drama. Our thoughts are now with Nathalie’s family and friends. We have lost a great lady, a passionate leader in motorsport. “
The French Maillet came from a racing-loving family and used to take part in amateur races herself. The respected architect was appointed managing director of the race track in 2016, which she gave new dynamism. She was 51 years old.
