Mexico City.- Iliana Guadalupe Talamantes HigueraMunicipal President of Comondú, Baja California Sur indicated that the presence of drug traffickers will continue in that territory “for ever and ever”, since neither the federal forces they have been able to with him.
In her morning conference this Friday, the Mayor was questioned about security at the event of her first Government report, after last Sunday night, a group of alleged hit men beat and humiliated local police officers outside the Bar “Michelatos”, located in the center of the Municipality, which was captured on video.
About, Talamantes Fig Treewho came to office for the PT-Morena coalition, justified that the public reported the event as a brawl in a bar, and did not mention that it was an armed group, so officers came for a lack of public order, not to fight assassins.
He remarked that the municipal police will not do work against drug traffickersstating that this is not their duty or competence.
“The municipal police is not going to investigate organized crime or drug trafficking, because it is not within the functions of the municipal police. We are here to attend to other matters. We are not going to start a war, nor a witch hunt, imagine if the Federal Police can’t, if the marines can’t, if the Army can’t and they haven’t been able all this time, will the Municipal Police of Comondú be able to? mocked.
“This administration is going to pass and neither is the one that comes and the other and forever and ever, amen. We are not in a war against any criminal group, on the contrary, we are here to protect citizens, that is our main mission” , he added.
Ask citizens to take care of police
In addition, Mayor Talamantes asked the residents to try to be more specific with their reports and don’t expose the cops.
“I ask people not to expose our police officers like this. Our police officers are fellow citizens of our Municipality. They are people in uniform, they are parents, they are children, they are brothers, they are husbands, they are citizens,” he said.
“They are not iron enough to make a report where you expose everything and expose them to what should not have happened, whoever made the report omitted to say that there were armed people, well, and since that bar, they took out drunks every weekend …The police were not going to deal with an armed group, or a group of criminals, or a mafia, or anyone, they were going to deal with a fight, of course (…) you are not going to imagine that there are people with some rifles of this size in a bar,” he said, opening his hands to exemplify the dimension of long weapons.
