An employee of the supermarket chain Lemesheva called the main rules for storing food in the summer
Proper storage and refusal to buy too much will allow you to always eat fresh vegetables in the summer, said Yulia Lemesheva, senior manager of the operational delivery direction of the Perekrestok express delivery service, writes Prime.
According to her, the berries are fully stored for only three days, and then the juice is released. You can extend the period using bulk containers, the berries in it are placed in the refrigerator and do not touch unnecessarily. At the same time, it is better not to wash fruits and berries before storing them, as water accelerates their deterioration, the expert noted.
She recommends keeping vegetables separate from fruits and berries. “Some fruits emit ethylene, which allows them to ripen after picking, it also adversely affects the vegetables lying nearby,” the employee of the supermarket chain called the main storage rules.
She advised putting the zucchini, pumpkin and zucchini in a cold place. Cauliflower can be disassembled into inflorescences, put in a jar and sprinkled with coarse salt. This will keep it fresh for a week. Lemesheva added that potato tubers should be kept in a vegetable box away from onions and garlic so that they do not germinate.
It is important not to buy too much, so that you don’t have to throw away food later, she clarified.
Earlier, the head of the testing department of Roskachestvo, Lilia Kotelnikova, said that sauerkraut can be stored for up to eight months, and cherry jam for about a year, until it becomes dangerous.
