The US ban on Russian energy imports does not apply to uranium. Such an exception to the US sanctions imposed against Russia, called the agency Reutersreports RIA News.
As the agency notes, the US energy industry depends on Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, since it receives from them about half of the uranium used in US nuclear power plants. For this reason, representatives of the American energy industry insist that the White House does not prohibit the import of uranium from Russia.
According to the publication, there is no own production or processing of uranium in the United States. At the same time, the article says, the document published by the White House on the ban on Russian energy carriers also does not mention uranium, which, according to the publication, confirms the information of his interlocutor.
US President Joe Biden on Tuesday, March 8, signed an executive order banning energy imports from Russia and new investment in the Russian energy sector. Crude oil, petroleum products, petroleum fuels and oils, as well as products of their distillation, liquefied natural gas, coal and coal products were banned from importing into the United States.
