Andrey Rublev, a confessed admirer of Rafa Nadal, had no problem admitting that he considers the Spaniard to be the greatest of all time. On Saturday he lost in the Indian Wells semifinals to Taylor Fritz, who this Sunday (23:00, #Vamos) will face the winner of 21 Grand Slams in the final.
It was after his quarter-final match against Dimitrov that the Muscovite answered like this when asked what he thought about what Nadal is doing this season: “I don’t know. Rafa is the best player in history. He can do anything. Sometimes it’s better to sit back, watch and enjoy (laughs).”.
Andrey tried to explain what is almost inexplicable: “We’ll see. Last year a lot of people expected him to play the US Open. Suddenly he dropped out. The season ended and on the return he won a Grand Slam. He’s playing here, then he’ll play the clay season… You never know with him. But I repeat that you can do anything.”
