Atlético Nacional won the match of honor and got even with Millonarios, whom they defeated this Wednesday 0-1 in El Campín to, at least, clean their face after the win in the classic against Medellín.
Blue and green, both eliminated early, finished tied on points in quadrangular B. Millos finished second on goal difference, but was left with the disappointment of their lack of effectiveness, which was again noted in the farewell in front of their fans.
Because of the crowd, because of the attitude with which the teams came out, it seemed that there was still something at stake this Wednesday in El Campín. Nacional, in the first half, came out with everything and before the first minute, Eric Ramírez surprised Juan Moreno and hit a ball into the horizontal.
The greens were willing to take everything ahead. With a defense of three, with full-backs well launched on the attack, they put the local defense to work. At 12, Yair Mena, one of the full-backs, went on the attack and left the second blow of the night for the notes.
Since neither of them had anything to lose, the match was open, with two teams thinking about pleasing each other, with few fouls and several options.
Nacional took the victory in the end
The duel of shots to the woodwork continued in the second stage. Millonarios hit first, in a one-on-one between Leonardo Castro and Kevin Mier: the attacker left the goalkeeper in the way and crashed the ball into the left-hand post.
Nacional responded with another great shot, this time, from Ramírez, after a pass from Nelson Deossa. And then, Juan Carlos Pereira tried from outside the area and also made Kevin Mier’s goal tremble.
The game did not deserve to end 0-0. And it was Nacional who ended up taking advantage to take the victory for El Campín, in stoppage time, after a diagonal by Edier Ocampo and a shot from outside the area by Brahian Palacios, which sealed the third defeat in a row for Millonarios in the shot of the home run.
In three games, Millonarios lost their way to the final, the chance for a two-time championship and, this Wednesday, first place in the reclassification, at the hands of Águilas Doradas, who beat Deportivo Cali 3-1. The lack of aim cost him dearly.
