Police investigate racist attacks against the singer in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul
The PT candidate for the presidency, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, expressed solidarity with singer Seu Jorge this Wednesday (19.Oct.2022). The artist would have been the target of racist insults during a show in Porto Alegre (RS). The case is investigated by the police.
Lula’s speech was also in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul. The PT gave statements to the press as soon as he arrived in the city, where he will take a walk with voters on the afternoon of this Wednesday.

“I’m just here to show my solidarity with Seu Jorge. He is the latest victim of prejudice in this country.”declared the PT candidate, before starting to answer questions from journalists.
“We need, all democratic people in this country, we have to reject and repudiate any gesture of prejudice”, he said. Lula also stated that the current government “ended” with the culture, “to the point that an artist like Seu Jorge is treated poorly just because he is black”.
PT has already promised on several occasions to recreate the Ministry of Culture, which does not exist in the management of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), your opponent in the 2nd turn.
“We need to overcome this from a cultural point of view. I, as president, established that African history should be introduced in the elementary school of that country”, said Lula. According to him, the study of the subject helps to combat racism.
“It is necessary, once and for all, to put an end to this story that blacks are an inferior race. And that needs not a lot of law, but a lot of culture, a lot of education.”declared the candidate.
Lula also said that it is necessary to punish citizens with racist conduct. “The citizen who is racist, in fact, is transmitting hate”declared the PT.
