Elon Musk in search of a “technological blessing”. Tesla CEO indeed met yesterday Pope Bergoglio: the two met privately in Oltretevere, at Casa Santa Marta, the Pope’s residence. The South African manager used a private jet to fly from Austin, Texas to Rome: after meeting, the two discussed future, sustainability and technology, and above all how these three aspects can get along with each other. On the other hand, Elon Musk and Papa Bergoglio have long seemed to share the same ideas on the subject.
For years, in fact, the CEO of Tesla has argued that “Technology will save the world”in response the Pontiff had stated in his recent book-interview that “Artificial intelligence and robots must be at the service of humanitynot a threat, and if designed and manufactured to put man at the center, they can be used for the protection of our common home ”. La Stampa this morning on newsstands says that the meeting between the two lasted about about forty minutes, enough time for Tesla’s CEO to illustrate his ideas, activities and plans to Pope Bergoglio to build a better, more livable and sustainable future for humanity, for the generations of today and for those to come. A vision that the Pope seems to have received with satisfaction.
Accompanying Elon Musk in this Vatican trip were there four of his seven children. As revealed to the newspaper by another monsignor who attended the meeting, the Pope was pleasantly surprised by the attitude of Tesla’s number one: the interview would have taken place in a serene and cheerful atmosphere, and Musk would have revealed himself “to the hand ”, a normal person, with one strong sense of humor that would have impressed Bergoglio. On the other hand, the two share an idea of an essential link between technology and ecology, a common point that has undoubtedly facilitated this meeting.
