With the high annual growth rate of his fortune, Elon Musk, a South African businessman who owns companies such as Tesla, SpaceX and the social network X, is about to become the world’s first trillionaire.
According to a survey released by the Informa Connect Academy platform As of last Friday (6), Musk’s fortune is growing at an average rate of 109.88% per year, which makes him the main candidate to reach the unprecedented mark of US$ 1 trillion by 2027.
The study, called “Trillion Dollar Club 2024”, analyzed the growth of the fortunes of several billionaires, and Musk emerges as the favorite to reach the highest point of global wealth.
Currently, the owner of X is already considered the richest man in the world, with a fortune of US$ 237 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. According to a survey by Informa Connect Academy, Musk’s already colossal wealth, fueled by his business successes in strategic sectors such as technology, space exploration and now social media, could continue to grow at exponential rates in the coming years, consolidating his position at the top of the global financial elite.
In addition to Musk, other billionaires also have the potential to reach the trillion-dollar mark, according to the study. Gautam Adani, founder of the Indian conglomerate Adani Group, and Jensen Huang, co-founder of Nvidia, are among the main candidates to reach this milestone, with estimates pointing to 2028. Adani, with a current fortune of US$ 99.6 billion and an annual growth rate of 122.86%, and Huang, with US$ 90.5 billion and an annual growth rate of 111.88%, are among the few entrepreneurs whose fortunes grow above 100% per year.
Other names mentioned in the study include Prajogo Pangestu, an Indonesian energy and mining tycoon, and Bernard Arnault, the head of LVMH, the world’s largest luxury goods company. Arnault, who is currently worth $181 billion, could become a trillionaire by 2030, as could Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta.
