American R&B singer R. Kelly new doubts regarding sexual exploitation are again raised. The case is told, among other things BBC.
The singer has been charged with several sexual offenses in the past, and now a new suspicion has emerged from 2006. Prosecutors say the singer would have abused a teenage boy after meeting him at a McDonald’s restaurant in Chicago.
Prosecutors want to present evidence of this case in a future trial, as well as new evidence of other cases not previously prosecuted.
Prosecutors hope the judges would hear a large number of people who would have to tell how Kelly has abused, threatened and abused them.
R. Kellyn, real name Robert Kellyn, is due to appear in court in New York next month. Judges must decide whether new evidence will be taken into account.
Allegations include the exploitation of teenage girls and women, the exploitation of a 17-year-old boy, the taking of obscene images of minors, obstruction of justice and bribery.
The older charges, which came to trial in 2020, concern six women and girls. The cases date back to 1991.
Kelly has previously denied having ever exploited anyone. His lawyers have not responded to the new doubts that have now emerged.
Now come up at the heart of the new incident is a 17-year-old musician Kelly met at a burger restaurant. Kelly had met the boy at McDonald’s and invited this to his studio in Chicago.
Kelly is suspected of helping the boy with this music career, but later had sex with him even though the boy was a minor.
Prosecutors said the boy had also introduced Kelly to his own friend, who was 16 or 17 at the time of the incident. Kelly is also suspected of having sex with this boy.
Later, Kelly is suspected of forcing several of her female friends and sex partners to have sex with this young man and filming the events herself. One of the women was a minor.
According to prosecutors, the suspicions are not individual cases but about Kelly’s broader approach.
Grammy winner R. Kelly was one of the world’s biggest R&B stars in the 1990s. He has been in prison for nearly two years awaiting his trials.
Kelly is awaiting two different lawsuits in New York and Illinois. There are currently a total of 22 criminal charges.
The New York trial is scheduled to begin on August 9th.
