The competition was to be held for the 20th time in January 2022. The event, which is held every three years, was last seen in Lappeenranta in 2019.

“Even if the audience had numbered seats at the singing competitions, we would not have been able to avoid meetings between the audience, staff and competitors during the week at Lappeenranta City Hall,” says the executive director of the national singing competitions in Lappeenranta. All 30 singers selected for the actual competition in the October 2021 pre-competition will be eligible.
