Audiences that can reach 600 thousand people gathered around a stage, an unthinkable scene at the height of the pandemic period, will once again become a reality in the capital of São Paulo. The main international music festivals have already announced dates and some attractions. Ticket sales for one of them, Lollapalooza, began on Thursday (18).
In an interview with Brazil Agency, the state secretary of Tourism of São Paulo, Vinicius Lummertz, said that the resumption is directly related to the expansion of the application of vaccines. “We have to guarantee a safe return. This year it was partial to medium events, but next year it has Lollapalooza, The Town [em 2023]; we will have normality, always with care”.
The government of the state of São Paulo has as a reference the sanitary precautions against covid-19 applied in the Formula 1 Grand Prix, last Sunday (14). Participants who presented the vaccination card with the two doses were allowed to enter freely; those whose wallets had only one dose needed to show a negative PCR test performed up to 48 hours before the event. Children who have not yet received the vaccine only entered upon presentation of negative PCR.
However, protocols can diversify, according to Lummertz. “This is an evolutionary picture, it will depend on what happens with the vaccination. On the other hand, we continue to monitor all health rates, hospitalization, etc. We also carefully monitor any possible future need to expand ICUs, which we do not believe [que seja preciso]”, he said.
Four months before Lollapalooza, the organizers inform that they will apply the government measures that are in force.
The festival is scheduled for March 25, 26 and 27, 2022 at the Autodromo de Interlagos. “These events will be held within rules that will not put people’s lives at risk. But they will be carried out with their maximum audience”, said the secretary.
People who purchased tickets for the 2020 edition had to wait two years to see their idols up close. According to the organization, these same tickets purchased in 2020 are still valid for March. The festival was born in 2012 in the country and gathered, in its last edition, 246,000 people.
the town
Another mega-event, with a forecast of 600 thousand spectators, was confirmed in São Paulo, The Town. Given the confidence in the resumption of the entertainment sector, the investment will be of R$ 300 million, coming from the same creators of Rock in Rio, generating an impact of R$ 1.2 billion in the state of São Paulo and 27 thousand jobs. The event is also scheduled to take place at the Autodromo de Interlagos on September 2, 3, 8, 9 and 10, 2023, with the promise of bringing to the country the main names in world music.
A survey carried out by the organizers showed that 25% of tickets sold for Rock in Rio were for people from São Paulo, and that 85% of these music fans would like an event of the same size to take place in São Paulo. “The public from Rio de Janeiro will come here [São Paulo] also, as the paulista goes there [Rio de Janeiro]. São Paulo is so big that the problem is not a lack of public, it’s a lack of things to do here. It has a road, an airport, everything. Brazil needs this”, said the secretary of Culture, Lummertz.
