ADO Den Haag can finish the season. The football club’s budget was approved by the KNVB on Thursday, after the municipality of The Hague granted a postponement of payment on the football club’s rent arrears. Mayor Jan van Zanen has that on Thursday let them know. The club does not receive an extra point deduction, so the counter remains at minus six points in the Kitchen Champion Division.
Before the municipality made the commitment to postpone the payment of the rent arrears, ADO first had to submit an up-to-date budget. The deficit for this season amounted to 750,000 euros. The municipality is now filling that gap by granting ADO a deferral of rent payment for the same amount. The budget is thus balanced. If that had not been the case before November 1, the club had to hand in a guarantee of 5.1 million euros to the football association. Otherwise, ADO would lose the professional license.
The municipality has set strict conditions for the help it offers. For example, ADO Den Haag must structurally get its business operations and budget in order. The club will repay the 750,000 euros by means of a payment arrangement. The club must also do more for the “sports and social connection with the city”, according to the municipality. The club thanks the community for the support.
In June, when the club should have submitted the budget, ADO turned out to be in financial trouble. Because the club was unable to submit the budget on two occasions, ADO received three minus points twice. Despite those negatives, the club is still in seventh place in the Kitchen Champion Division. The Chinese owner of the club ‘United Vansen Sports’ has been looking for a buyer for some time. This has not yet been found.
