In Oaxaca, the municipal president of the city council of Santiago Choápam, Evergisto Gamboa, died of contagion of covid-19, confirmed the Secretary of State Health.
According to the clinical report, the mayor was infected during a visit to the city of Oaxaca, where when he was positive to the test, he decided to isolate himself, but reported complications, for which he was admitted and intubated in a medical unit.
The municipality was questioned last year for authorizing a popular dance as part of the Three Kings Day festivities, where 11 people died from coronavirus infection, and more than 20 required hospitalization with oxygen.
Since the covid-19 pandemic began in March 2020, the death of 17 municipal presidents has been reported and 10 more were infected but were discharged.
Among the deaths is the death of the mayor of Reyes Etla Javier Santiago Ruiz, of San Baltazar Chicicampam, Florencio San Germán Santiago, of Tamazulapam del Espíritu Santo, Artemio Ortiz Ricardez, San Juan Bautista Tuxtepec, Fernando Bautista Dávila.
Others who died were Alfredo Juárez de Matías Romero, from Santiago Jocotepec Pedro Escarcega Pérez, from San Bartolme Quialana Victorio Gómez Martínez, San Miguel del Río Daniel Efren Hernández.
From Santa Cruz Xitla Pedro Modesto Santos, from Santa Catarina Loxicha Leonilo Ruiz Méndez, and from Xipatlehua José Joaquín Bustamante.
In addition, the death of the mayor of San José Tenango Hugo García Ríos, San Juan Tamazola Efrain Lazaro, was reported. Santos Reyes Tepejillo Aparicio Reyes, San Pedro Mixtepec Amado Vázquez and San Sebastian Río Hondo Juvenal García.
