Multiverse Computinga company based in San Sebastián dedicated to quantum computing, has opened an office in San Francisco (USA) to boost its growth in that market. With this commitment, the Basque firm will be able to accelerate the adoption of its artificial and quantum intelligence solutions by clients based in the countryincluding government and businesses. This office joins those that the Basque firm has in Canada, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy.
On the other hand, Multiverse Computing has announced that it will work with Airbus? to build a new gesture-based control system for fighter aircraft, within the European Defense Fund’s ‘EPIIC’ project.
Dedicated to quantum artificial intelligence software Since 2019, Multiverse Computing has made the leap to the US market with an office in San Francisco. Entry into the country will enable accelerated adoption of its artificial and quantum intelligence solutions by clients based in the country, including government and enterprises. Multiverse arrives years installed in Toronto (Canada), but now it is betting on this direct access to the United States.
The San Francisco branch will be led by Chris Zaharias. According to the company’s website, Chris has managed sales in numerous software startups financed by venture capital, “including Omniture; Efficient Frontier, acquired by Adobe and the first company to apply algorithms to the optimization of paid search advertising; his own SaaS company SearchQuant, which had 400 emerging clients, and the company iMerit AI Data Annotation Center, with 5,000 people.
“We needed a strong leader to continue leading projects with quantum and AI-based solutions in the important North American market and Chris was the ideal candidate,” says Enrique Lizaso Olmos, CEO of Multiverse Computing. For his part, Zaharias explains that “Multiverse Computing is an innovative organization and I am delighted to lead its expansion in the US market. Multiverse Computing participates in Amazon Web Services Generative AI Accelerator 2024a program that selected 80 startups to receive AWS credits, mentorship, and other resources to continue AI research and expand their businesses. The second class will showcase the work to an audience of industry professionals and AWS leaders at re:Invent 2024, which will be held in December in Las Vegas.
With the help of this program, the Basque firm plans to expand the capabilities of CompactifAI, a software that uses tensor networks to optimize large AI models creating smaller and more efficient versions.
European defense project
On the other hand, Multiverse Computing has recently announced that it will work with Airbus Defense and Spaceto build a new gesture-based control system for fighter aircraft, within the ‘EPIIC’ project of the European Defense Fund. The project, which started this month, will end in September 2025.
The control system of fighter aircraft allows pilots Interact with aircraft systems using physical gestures as hand movements, without the need for traditional controls such as buttons or switches. These new solutions can improve operational efficiency by enabling natural and efficient interactions with systems and could include virtual reality and augmented reality technologies.
The ‘EPIIC’ project is a pan-European initiative that addresses the challenges of air warfare and collaborative combat of the future. It is made up of more than 20 organizations from 12 European countriesincluding industrial companies, university research departments, innovative start-ups and private companies.
