His Excellency said in an interview with the Union: The department has formulated strategies and future plans that are concerned with achieving the aspirations of the Abu Dhabi community and contribute to preserving the distinctive social fabric of the emirate, which embraces everyone from different cultures and nationalities, making Abu Dhabi a global beacon of peace, tolerance and human brotherhood. His Excellency added: Over the past ten years, Abu Dhabi has achieved many achievements in all fields, as it has topped many global competitive indicators, and the Emirate has formed a pioneering experience in the field of sustainable social and economic development, which enabled it to compete as one of the best global cities for living and life. The results of the annual study conducted by the British Economist Intelligence Unit on cities with good quality of life in the new world rankings for the year 2021 indicated that Abu Dhabi ranked first in the Arab world and in the Middle East, for the second year in a row in the list of the most livable cities.
His Excellency continued: These results achieved by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi come despite the great challenges faced by global cities as a result of the negative repercussions left by the “Covid-19” pandemic, and affected its global classification in terms of quality of life, but Abu Dhabi has maintained its leadership and advanced position among Cities of the Middle East countries as the best places to live and live, surpassing a large number of cities that were the subject of research units of measurement.
His Excellency indicated that the department launched a questionnaire during the pandemic, with the aim of analyzing the conditions accompanying the repercussions of the pandemic and identifying the lifestyles of the community and submitting it to decision makers, to ensure the future foresight and the sustainability of providing a better quality of life. The most prominent results were that 89% of the participants confirmed that the competent health institutions are ready and able On dealing with the epidemic, while 80% consider that the crisis contributed to strengthening their family relations and that they spend more time with their children, pointing out that the number of initiatives presented by the social sector amounted to more than 60 initiatives from government agencies in the sector.
His Excellency clarified that the civilized achievements of the UAE and Abu Dhabi in particular during the past half century clearly demonstrate the leadership’s determination and will to build a nation rich in many gains. Dr. Mugheer Al Khaili said: As a social sector in Abu Dhabi, we were keen to achieve everything we see as a priority in order to achieve a high quality of life in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
