SAO PAULO (Reuters) – Soybean sales in Mato Grosso reached 44.41% of expected production for the 2021/22 crop, which is in the final stretch of planting, the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics said on Monday ( Imea).
Business advanced 4.01 percentage points compared to the report released in the previous month.
As a result, sales were below the 64.38% seen in the same period last year for the new crop at the time, but above the historical average of 42.58%.
In a separate bulletin, the Imea classified the progress in the monthly comparison as “expressive”.
“It is noteworthy that, unlike the faster pace of sales last year, at this time producers are choosing to take advantage of better business opportunities, at more valued prices,” stated the institute.
For corn, sales reached 36.71% of the expected production for the 2021/22 harvest, compared to 59.5% a year earlier and a historic average of 35%.
In the monthly comparison, there was an increase of 3.92 percentage points, the data showed.
“It was observed that the optimism of the Mato Grosso producer, in relation to the positive scenario of early sowing of soybeans (which may favor the production of corn for the next harvest) impacted the advance… of commercialization in October”, evaluated the institute in a bulletin apart.
