Movies Finnish candidate Cabin No. 6 made it to the actual Oscar race

Another Finnish film, Somali nominee Guled & Nasra, was also included in the Oscar competition and did not compete for the Oscar.

Finland candidate Cabin No. 6 has been able to compete for an Oscar for a non-English-language film. Chosen by the U.S. Film Academy Juho Kuosmasen under the direction of a competition with 14 other films.

The series of non-English, or international, films include films lasting more than 40 minutes, produced outside the United States and in which the majority of the dialogue takes place in a language other than English.

Cabin No. 6 was promoted to potential Oscar riders in many pre-fights. In English by name Compartment No. 6. well-known train drama sai extensive distribution agreement to the United States.

Cabin No. 6 won second prize at the Cannes Film Festival in the summer and in the autumn Jerusalem the main prize of the film festivals.

In addition, the film rarely competes with Americans in Finnish Golden Globe awards.

In Finland there were exceptionally two competitors in the race, to which a total of 93 countries submitted their candidates.

Finnish film Guled & Nasra was not eligible to compete as a representative of Somalia in a series of non-English language films. The drama was Somalia’s first representative work at the Oscars.

The Somali film was shot in Djibouti. The working group was multinational and the main production company was Bufo from Helsinki. The director and screenwriter is Finnish Somali Khadar Ahmed. The English name of the drama about the family of the grave digger is The Gravedigger’s Wife.

Guled & Nasra has received a lot of international attention, including several shared by the African Movie Academy awards for African films.
