Movie The Finnish horror film Evil Graves won the main prize at a film festival in France

At the Gérardmer Film Festival, which focuses on fantasy and horror, Hanna Bergholm, directed by Evil Graves, won the main prize in the competition series and the Youth Jury Prize.

Horror drama Evil graves won the first prize in the Grand Prix at the Gérardmer Film Festival. In addition, it was awarded the Youth Jury Award by the Youth Council.

The Gérardmer Film Festival has been a horror and fantasy festival since 1994. For example, a Norwegian film was included in the competition The Innocents, which was selected last year for the Cannes Film Festival. It received the Audience and Critics Award. The jury also awarded two horror films: the Spanish La abuelan and You Are Not My Motherin.

Supervisor Hanna Bergholm was receiving the award in France and gave a speech of thanks.

“For me as a filmmaker, the biggest reward was seeing my own film with the audience for the first time, and hearing the audience live with the film and react at just the right places,” Bergholm said in the speech.

Ilja Rautsin the film, written by him, tells the story of a scaffolding girl who gets obsessed with pleasing her mother. It has been made into a Finnish film with an exceptionally large budget of almost four million. Starring Siiri Solalinna, Sophia Heikkilä, Jani Volanen and Reino Nordin.

“Sundance’s ratings and double award at Gérardmer are a team-wide win,” The bastard producer Mika Ritalahti says in a press release.

The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in the United States in January. It sai rave reviews.

Next Evil graves will be screened at the Gothenburg Film Festival.

The film will premiere in Finland on March 4.
