Michele Mouton, head of the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission, said it would be great for the W Series winner to have a guaranteed spot in Formula 3 next season and stressed that she has already submitted this idea.
“I have nothing against the W Series because it promotes girls in motorsport, but I do not share the goal of having a championship only between them when the only way to stand out is to fight with the best drivers”.
“It’s nice to see these races alongside Formula 1. It’s fun because they don’t have to pay to race and they have visibility, but it’s not enough.”
“If the W Series became a platform like the one we created with the Rising Stars program then that would be great. If they have the opportunity to race on the same weekends as Formula 1, then the championship winners should be guaranteed to move to Formula 3. My position is quite clear ”.

“We have already had the opportunity to address this topic with the promoters of the series”.
Speaking on the occasion of the release of a documentary about her life, Mouton then said: “A lot of progress has been made in the last 10 years to open the doors of motorsport to girls. A lot of efforts have been made that can be appreciated not only in competitions, but also in industry ”.
“We want more women not only in motorsport, but everywhere. This is what matters most. Over the past 10 years I have worked to achieve this result and we are finally seeing the fruits of this work ”.
“I hope that all these efforts are not thwarted and that we can continue to progress. In the WEC we have six girls running and I hope they can keep fighting ”.
