Mountaineering|The climbers had possibly been tied together.
Five a Russian mountaineer has been found dead on the Dhaulagiri mountain in Nepal, reports the news agency Reuters. Dhaulagiri (8,167 meters) is the seventh highest mountain in the world.
According to Reuters, the climbers had been missing since the weekend, and on Tuesday the climbing company that supported them in their work announced their deaths.
The climbers had not been contacted since Sunday evening, when they had climbed to 7,700 meters. The climbers had been on the move without mountain guides.
The bodies of the climbers were finally spotted from the search and rescue helicopter at an altitude of about 7,600 meters. More detailed information about the accident was not yet available on Tuesday.
“Perhaps they had been tied to the same rope. One may have slipped and dragged the others with him”, comments the representative of the climbing company that offered logistical help to the climbers Pemba Jangbu Sherpa.
