Motorsports Nasser al-Attiyah conquered the Dakar Rally for the fourth time in his career

Al-Attiyah, 51, left rally star Sebastien Loeb nearly half an hour away.

Qatari Nasser al-Attiyah drove the Dakar Rally, the classic motorsport race on Friday, for the fourth time in his career. The grueling rally ended after the 12th special stage in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Al-Attiyah, 51, left second-place world rally champion in second place in the overall race Sebastien Loebin almost half an hour away. The Qatari also celebrated the victory in the competition in 2011, 2015 and 2019.

“This was an amazing Dakar for us. Matthieu [Baumel, ranskalainen kartanlukija] and I, the whole team, did a great job, ”Toyota driver al-Attiyah said.

Al-Attiyah is a versatile athlete, aiming for Olympic bronze in skeet shooting at the 2012 London Olympics.

Friday’s final leg was driven by a South African Henk Lategan. In the motorcycle class, the British won the overall victory for Dakar Sam Sunderland.
