The positive moment for the two-wheeler market continues. On the strength of a 2021 closed with a + 21.2%, with values for the sector that have returned to pre-pandemic levels, the motorcycle, scooter and moped sector also showed a positive trend in January 2022. As shown by the data released by Confindustria ANCMA (National Association of Cycle Motorcycle Accessories), the month just ended registered a + 5.9% on the same month of the year last. The trend of mopeds was very positive (+ 47.5%), as did motorcycles (+ 23.3%), while that of scooters was stable, recording + 0.3%.
“The reference industry continues to give concrete answers to the new demand for mobility, the issue of environmental sustainability and the growing desire for two wheels – said Paolo Magri, president of ANCMA – despite the unknowns, the market is confirmed to be very dynamic, strengthening the leading role of some segments such as that of crossover and naked, with the arrival of new proposals and the consolidation of more usable and economical models, capable of attracting an audience of new enthusiasts and also of younger users “.
14,938 vehicles were registered in January, with a strong growth in mopeds equal to 1,684 vehicles sold. Scooters, on the other hand, are overall in line with the same month of the previous year, with 6,041 vehicles (+ 0.3%). The motorcycle market is also growing, with 7,756 vehicles and + 23.3%. The performance of electric vehicles is excellent, doubling volumes in January 2021 (+ 117.2%) and placing 1,060 units on the market, but also in this case there is a technical rebound on the first month of last year, which marked a decrease in 35%. In detail, 675 electric mopeds are registered, with an increase of 156.6%, a figure that is however particularly affected by orders from the sharing mobility sector.
