Marquez, debut as a Ducati rider in the official tests
Who expected fire and flames from Marc's first day of official MotoGP testing Marquez riding a Ducati he was disappointed. The eight-time world champion in fact finished in ninth place, +0.670 from Jorge Martin and 79 thousandths behind his brother Alex, teammate in the Gresini team.
Marquez, who was actually 20th before the last half hour, certainly didn't make any drama about the result, also because it's the first day of school and there's nothing to despair about. What worried him instead were the four technical problems which prevented him from getting the right rhythm on a GP23 that he still has to get to know.
Marquez's words
“The return was a bit complex. I had four different technical problems. Inside the garage they say that all the problems that could have occurred on the first day occurred on both my bikes. The important thing is that the team reacted excellentlyand this gives me confidence: the electronics are from Ducati and their engineers intervened quickly. At Ducati they take care of all the riders“he told ad AS. “These problems usually don't happen and they didn't happen to Alex. It's better that they arrived now. Also, they told me about an accident at turn 15, but I didn't crash. I had simply had a technical problem there too. Other than that, a strange day, but the important thing is that the team reacted well“.
“The feeling wasn't the best, but in the afternoon I managed to do two almost normal runs and then I felt better, but I still have a lot of work to do to adapt to the bike, understand above all the front end and start trying things with the set-up“, he continued. “We had planned to do more laps, to make better use of the tires and to do some tests, but the main thing was to test my position on the bike, the footpegs, the handlebars and the brakes, and we did a lot of this. Now everything is clear and tomorrow we will start working on the setup. We'll see tomorrow and the third day where we will be, but we won't be at the front“.
