Bagnaia starts again calmly… and a fall: 16th on day 1 of Sepang
Francesco was not among the protagonists of the MotoGP “first day of school” in Sepang Bagnaiawho never looked for the time attackspreferring to focus on mileage on the new GP24.
The two-time world champion also suffered a crash at the start of the session at turn 11, on the first lap on the Ducati. Not exactly the baptism that the #1 would have wanted, whose day continued without problems, without finding the best time (16th fastest time) but with many positive feedback on the engine and pace with used tyres.
Bagnaia's words
“Staying in front now is of little use. We focused on the new bike, making comparisons with the old one. In the end we made some progress with the feeling at the front thanks to a new fork“, these are the words of Bagnaia a Sky Sports MotoGP. “It was a positive day, we rode a lot even with used tyres, I'm very satisfied. There is still some room for growth, I don't know if we will finish the job here but in any case there is also Qatar. We noticed very positive things about the new engine and others that are worse than the old bike, but all in all the steps forward made today are very positive, especially with used tires“.
Tomorrow the world champion will test a new fairing, which could give him better riding sensations and take him higher in the rankings: “Tomorrow we'll focus on that, Let's see if we can take another step forward but in my opinion yes“, the Piedmontese limited himself to commenting.
