Still encouraging signs from Aprilia on the third and final day of the Sepang shakedown, with Maverick Vinales which lowered the time set on Tuesday by almost a second. The Spanish centaur stopped the chronometers on the1’58.942, reaching six tenths from Fabio Quartararo’s pole of 2019 and completing 45 laps. Behind him the teammate Aleix Espargarò, with just 0 ″ 144 and 49 laps completed. Virtual podium completed by the convincing Raul Fernandez (KTM Tech3), consistently first of the rookies, third half a second behind Vinales. Positive notes also from Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati VR46), fourth seven tenths from the top and with a total of 48 laps.
Fifth place for Michele Pirro, Ducati test rider, who scored a 1’59.805 as his best chronometric reference. Remy Gardner (KTM Tech3), still recovering from a wrist injury that doesn’t allow him to push hard, finished sixth, 1 ″ 1 from the top. Honda test rider Stefan Bradl, seventh, and Suzuki Sylvain Guintoli, eighth completed the classification; ninth is Darryn Binder (Yamaha WithU) at 1 ″ 9, and precedes Kallio (KTM tester) and Yamaha test riders (Crutchlow, Nakasuga and Tsuda).
