There is no respite for Lorenzo Savadori, who is forced to close the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix early. The Aprilia rider, present as a wild card, suffered a crash during the third free practice session at Misano, repairing the fracture of his right collarbone. This injury prevents Savadori from continuing the weekend, receiving the doctors’ fit. The Aprilia rider will go to Modena, where he will be operated on as soon as possible by dr. Piglets to reduce the fracture. In this way, not only does the Misano weekend end earlier than expected, but participation in Portimao, scheduled as a wild card, is also compromised.
The Aprilia rider, who started 2021 as a regular rider, is a troubled season, only to have to stop due to an ankle injury remedied in Austria following an accident. Since then, the difficult period began for Savadori, who was then downgraded to the role of test driver again. Maverick Vinales’ departure from Yamaha with immediate effect led the Noale manufacturer to sign him for 2022, bringing him to the track right away.
The arrival of the Spaniard forced Savadori to leave the RS-GP, thus returning to the role of tester, which has already been widely enjoyed in recent years. The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix represented the first return to racing after the injury and Savadori himself had expressed great enthusiasm, revealing that he missed racing.
Not yet at 100% fitness, the rider from Romagna returned to Misano as a wild card to compete for the second weekend on his home track and the last of the season in Italy. However, things did not go as he would have liked and, while he was looking for the best time in FP3 this morning, he was betrayed by the treacherous conditions of the track, slipping and remedying a new injury that will force him to be a spectator and not a protagonist of the race.
