Passed the emotions of the last race of his career in Italy, on the home track of Misano, for Valentino Rossi it’s time to turn the page and start the last chapter of his adventure in the world championship. Two races in the space of a week, all in the Iberian Peninsula, to conclude a journey that lasted 26 seasons. It starts from Portimão, in Portugal, on a circuit beloved by all the drivers and where this year has already competed at the beginning of the championship. On that occasion the standard bearer of the Petronas team threw a good comeback to the wind with the first race crash of a never so troubled season.
“Portimão is a difficult track and has some very special characteristics – explained the nine-time world champion, presenting the weekend in the Algarve – that other circuits don’t have. The first of our two races this year there wasn’t too bad for us as I was able to work my way up to the top-10. But then unfortunately I fell. The goal of this weekend is to try to have a good race and try to get close to the leaders. I had a good feeling there, especially on Sunday. I hope we can be competitive and repeat a good result as we did last time in Misano “.
Hunting for the third consecutive race in the points will also go Andrea Dovizioso, who finished 13th on the circuit dedicated to Marco Simoncelli. “The Algarve International Circuit is a very special track. I don’t know what it will be like to face it with the Yamaha, especially as we are still learning some new settings. I’m really curious to see if we can be more competitive in Portimão, because at Misano we couldn’t be competitive due to the changing track conditions. I hope to take a step forward, because it is difficult to fight right now. I also hope to have good weather conditions in free practice, because we need it to continue to make progress and complete more laps on the bike “ commented the Forlì.
