The future of MotoGP is now a little clearer. As widely announced by FormulaPassion, the top category of motorcycling will keep six manufacturers in 2023 despite Suzuki’s departure. Credit for the move to transfer the Tech3 team from KTM to GasGasa brand that the same house from Mattighofen bought in 2019. It is therefore a more formal than substantial operation, also because KTM and GasGas will race with absolutely identical bikes.
The Austrians have also made official the return of Pol Espargaró after a very troubled two years in Honda. Still to understand who will keep him company: currently the favorite is Remy Gardner, but in the press conference of the Red Bull Ring the motorsport director GasGas Pit Beirer hid behind a “we cannot announce anything yet“.
“GasGas is a winning brand. He immediately reached an incredible level of performance in disciplines such as MXGP, Supercross, Enduro and Rally where we won Grand Prem, world titles and various trophies. It is a relatively new brand for us and we have new goals. We hope fans who follow ‘red’ enjoy the storyBeirer added. “Thanks to our partner, the ASPAR team, in Moto3 and Moto2 we were able to see GasGas bikes leading these categories. It would be nice to see the same thing even in the toughest class. I want to thank Hervé Poncharal and the Tech3 team for keeping an open mind and for supporting this change to become the GasGas Factory Racing Team“.
