Motorsport.com had already anticipated it before the summer break on the occasion of the German Grand Prix and today, after the Silverstone race, the official announcement arrived: Fabio Di Giannantonio has renewed with Ducati and will continue to race with the Pertamina Enduro VR46 team for the next two years. The Roman rider has signed an agreement directly with the factory until the end of 2026, therefore he will have a Desmosedici GP25 next year, the updated model that the official riders, Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez, will have.
Having become the market man of the last few weeks, Di Giannantonio had also had contacts with the Pramac team, which will switch to Yamaha next year and will be factory supported by the Iwata manufacturer. Although many thought he was very close to signing with Paolo Campinoti’s team, Say he always claimed to have a “plan A”, later revealing that it was to stay with Valentino Rossi’s team, led by Uccio Salucci.
“In my options there is only room to ride a factory bike next year. In the position I am in and for the speed I am showing, I believe I deserve a factory bike and I am only considering projects with factory bikes”, he explained right at the Sachsenring when he was at the centre of the riders’ market. And so it was: Diggia will be a factory supported rider and will be the only one who can ride the same bike as the official riders, given that Ducati has decided to field not four, but three updated bikes from next year.
In eight months, everything has changed for Fabio Di Giannantonio: less than a year ago, he remained without a saddle until the last race of the season, after the Gresini team (with which he raced in 2022 and 2023) announced the arrival of Marc Marquez for 2024. Only at the end of the championship did he find the door open to the VR46 team. This year he rides the GP23 and, together with Marquez, he is the rider who is best interpreting a model that is difficult for many. These excellent results have not only guaranteed him the renewal with the Pertamina Enduro VR46 team, but a direct contract with Borgo Panigale.
Ducati will still keep four riders under contract: SayPecco Bagnaia, Marc Marquez and Fermin Aldeguer, whose debut will take place on the second bike of the Gresini team, as anticipated by Motorsport.com. Thus, the team led by Alessio “Uccio” Salucci, after having made official the step from satellite team to Factory-supported team for 2025 (effectively replacing the Pramac team as semi-official), has announced the first name of its line-up. Alongside Di Giannantonio, there will most likely be Franco Morbidelli, whose announcement should not take too long to arrive.

Franco Morbidelli will instead be paired with Di Giannantonio, for which only the official confirmation is missing.
“9 months ago I found myself without a bike to continue my dream and today I sign a contract with two of the most important entities in MotoGP, it’s hard to believe”, says Di Giannantonio. “I’m very happy to be able to continue this fantastic journey together with the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team and Ducati Corse for the next two seasons. I arrived here almost by chance, I immediately felt at home and with the Team we are doing really well. I want to thank Vale, Uccio, Pablo, the whole crew, Ducati and my personal staff, we have left nothing to chance. We are opening a new chapter, I can’t wait. I will be on track for two years with the official Ducati, we can and must aim for ambitious results. It’s a huge project, in which I feel 100% involved and we can aim for the top step of the podium. We continue to work, we are growing every weekend: this is a further injection of confidence to always give our best”.
“We are really happy to have Fabio Di Giannantonio among our Ducati riders for the next two years. Diggia has always shown great faith in our project and his dedication and talent have led him to constantly grow in MotoGP. We are confident that together with the VR46 Racing Team and having an official Desmosedici GP he will have even more opportunities to highlight his full potential. Officially welcome to the Ducati family, Fabio!”, says Gigi Dall’Igna, General Manager of Ducati Corse.
Alessio Salucci, Team Director Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, says: “The 2025/2026 two-year period of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team is starting to take shape. After the announcement of the partnership with Ducati last week, today we can confirm that Fabio, thanks to the agreement signed directly with the Borgo Panigale company, will wear the team’s fluorescent yellow for the next two seasons. I can’t hide my satisfaction, he arrived on tiptoe, he’s working so hard, he’s always there with the strongest and he deserves to reap so many satisfactions. It’s a very important moment for the future of the team, the relationship with Ducati is increasingly stronger and we can only thank Pertamina Lubricants and all our partners who support us and continue to believe in this ambitious project”.
