“First of all I want to apologize to Francesco Bagnaia and Alex Rins. Sorry if I destroyed the race for you. It was a scary accident, but luckily I didn’t suffer any serious consequences. I will try to recover as soon as possible “. So on Twitter Takaaki Nakagami he wanted to apologize to Alex Rins and Francesco Bagnaia, the riders he involved in the accident at the start of the MotoGP race in Barcelona on Sunday. The Suzuki rider suffered a broken left wrist, while Bagnaia had no consequences other than the very heavy zero in the championship (the third of the season).
Lucio Cecchinello, LCR Honda team manager who lines up Alex Marquez and Takaaki Nakagami, explained to Sky Sport that it was an error of assessment and that the Japanese feels under pressure since the results of these races are decisive for the future of the 1992 class.
Nakagami, in fact, is now at the start in MotoGP from 2019 and he never got a podium although on several occasions only bad luck deprived him of a well deserved top-3 (just think of the red flag that interrupted the race in Austria in 2020 due to the fall of Maverick Vinales, who was left without brakes).
Honda would like to promote in MotoGP Ai Ogura, another product of the Asian Cup program managed by the house of the golden wing. The 2001 rider is in his second year in Moto2, he won at Jerez and is fighting for the world title with Celestino Vietti Ramus and Aron Canet.
First of all, I want to apologize to @ Rins42 @suzukimotogp and @PeccoBagnaia @ducaticorse for the accident at turn 1. I’m really sorry destroyed your race.
It was a scary one but fortunately I’m OK, no serious injury. I’ll try to recovery asap.#CatalanGP #MotoGP pic.twitter.com/xX5h9QJw4f
