After the Sprint of the MotoGP Italian Grand Prix, several riders raised the doubt that the soft rear tire could also be a good solution for the long race at Mugello. A doubt that was further fueled by what was seen in the Warm-Up, in which the majority of the riders took to the track with this solution.
The fastest was Pedro Acosta, who mounted one with 9 turns of life on his GasGas Tech3, with which he achieved a time of 1’45″900. There were also some who fell below the 1’46” barrier. the two Ducatis of Enea Bastianini and Franco Morbidelli, with the Rimini native who however achieved his 1’45″982 with the medium tyre. Among other things, his Desmosedici GP and that of Pecco Bagnaia, only 18th a little less of a second with the medium tyre, they already show off the blue livery dedicated to the Italian national teams.
Watch out for Morbidelli though, because his soft tire had a total of 16 laps, but it was enough for him to lap in 1’45″988. If you continue to scroll through the rankings, the Ducati contingent is five bikes behind Acosta Following, in fact, we find Alex Marquez, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Jorge Martin. If the two Spaniards had the medium tyre, the Pertamina Enduro VR46 rider instead had a 14-lap soft, therefore his 1’46”. 165 is a very interesting time.
In seventh and eighth place we find two Aprilias, both with a soft tire with around ten laps, with Aleix Espargaro ahead of Raul Fernandez. Instead, you have to go down to ninth place to find Marc Marquez, who lapped in 1’46″364 with a medium tyre. As usual, the Gresini Racing rider also did a test of changing the bike in case of a possible “flag” to flag”.
The top 10 was then completed with Maverick Vinales, while the first of the Japanese bikes was the Yamaha of Fabio Quartararo, author of the 13th time with a 7-lap soft, also behind the two KTMs of Brad Binder and Pol Espargaro. Behind “El Diablo” there is the first of the Hondas, which is that of Takaaki Nakagami.
Having said that Bagnaia’s 18th time, there are also other Italians in the back-up positions: Marco Bezzecchi is 16th, Luca Marini is 22nd and Aprilia’s wild card, Lorenzo Savadori, closes the group in 24th position.
