As it has been known for a few weeks, Andrea Dovizioso he will give his own next weekend in Misano goodbye to MotoGP, leaving after an excellent career that saw him a proud opponent of Marc Marquez riding the Ducati in the three-year period 2017-2019. In that period the Italian was the only one to keep up with the Spanish champion with continuity, so much so that he beat him in some hand-to-hand combat and add up a total of 15 successes in his parable in the premier class that began way back in 2008. After separating from Borgo Panigale and waiting for a new opportunity, Razlan Razali’s return to Yamaha in the structure was decidedly disappointing, as evidenced by the 23 points collected in the 18 GPs so far disputed together. Without an immediate way out in terms of competitiveness and with the awareness of not having a place on the grid for 2023, the ‘Dovi’ has decided to hang up his helmet already at Misano: “It will be my last grand prix. It will be very strange and unusual after my long career, but I’m happy to finish right here, with all my friends and fans. I hope it will be a great weekend. It will be important to be competitive and try to score points ”.
Ramon Forcada will also leave MotoGP with him, historic Yamaha chief engineer after thirty years of activity that have seen him alongside riders of the caliber of Crivillé, Barros, Kocinski, Checa, Lorenzo and Vinales. The Spaniard, having no prospect of transferring to Aprilia with the passage of the Razali team with Noale, opted to terminate the contract, as done by his current rider Andrea Dovizioso. To confirm the separation was the same RNF. Razlan Razali (team principal): “It will be an exciting race being both the last race and Andrea Dovizioso’s home GP. It will then be the last race together with Ramon Forcada, with whom it has been a pleasure to work together since 2019. He has a great deal of experience and knowledge and has won several world championships “. Wilco Zeelenberg (team manager): “Andrea has decided to end his MotoGP career here. In his place we will have Cal Crutchlow, who has asked to bring his crew chief with him for the last 6 races and therefore it will be the last race for Ramon Forcada as well. He has been with us for four years and I have personally worked with him since 2010, which brings the total of seasons together to 13. I don’t know how many GPs there are, but we have won 3 world championships together with Jorge Lorenzo. For Andrea we have already prepared a big dinner and a big party for Sunday ”.
