Yesterday Enea Bastianini said he was hopeful of being able to join the fight for victory in the MotoGP Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and his Sunday started off on the right foot in Misano, as the Ducati rider was the fastest in the ten minutes available for the Warm-Up.
The rider from Rimini stopped the clock at 1’31″519, 257 thousandths ahead of a reborn Franco Morbidelli, who seems to have rediscovered the competitiveness of the last race that he seemed to have lost until yesterday.
The funny thing is that the “Fantastic 4” have already done race practice, because they all went on the track together, completing practically the entire session as if they were already in a brawl. In the end, however, Bastianini distanced everyone, because Marc Marquez, Jorge Martin and Pecco Bagnaia finished in positions between sixth and eighth, more than half a second behind “The Beast”.
The Desmosedici GP of the reigning champion, winner of yesterday’s Sprint and also on pole in today’s long race, also has a sticker celebrating his 100 Grand Prix races in the premier class and with Ducati.
Fabio Quartararo also slipped into the top three of the world championship standings, continuing to show the progress of his Yamaha with the third time of 1’31″956. However, Pedro Acosta was also under the 1’32” wall, with the fourth time ahead of Brad Binder’s twin KTM.
Only tenth was the best Aprilia, which was that of Aleix Espargaro, while his teammate Maverick Vinales practically didn’t even complete a flying lap, given that he finds himself in 21st position with a gap of over ten seconds.
Luca Marini had a good morning, hoisting his Honda to 11th place with a delay of just under a second, proving to be the best among the Japanese brand’s riders. The two Pertamina Enduro VR46 riders were further back, with Fabio Di Giannantonio occupying 15th place just ahead of Marco Bezzecchi.
As you may have noticed, for the moment we have not talked about tires, but simply because the choice was practically the same for everyone, with a soft tire on the front and a medium on the rear. The only one to have tried the soft rear, and with 11 laps to go, was Bezzecchi, but we need to understand whether it was to take a risk in the race or to preserve a medium tire.
