The locomotive is the one that pulls the wagons and composes the train, deciding its speed on the tracks. And that’s more or less what happened today during qualifying for the French Grand Prix, on the Le Mans track, between the Ducatis of Francesco Bagnaia and Jack Miller.
Bagnaia, thanks to an exceptional flying lap, this time it was he who offered the tow to Miller, who, in turn, was good at taking advantage of his teammate’s hook to sign the second time just 69 thousandths from pole. . A 1-2 Ducati that is good for the team, but also good for the riders themselves.
If there aren’t many doubts about Bagnaia related to the continuation of the relationship with the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, Miller’s position is instead in the balance. A sequence of good results could perhaps convince Dall’Igna to continue with him for the future as well.
“Surely Pecco and I have a good relationship”, commented Miller at the end of qualifying on Sky Sport. “Pecco had a special pace especially in qualifying here and today I was able to accept his help. I knew that his pace was better than mine and I needed something more.”

“I was able to follow his references and it went well, because he did an incredible lap, spectacular to see such a lap from behind because at turn 6 despite the wear of the front tire it is fantastic to have seen him from behind. Great work of the team which allowed us to achieve today’s result. We hope to do well tomorrow too. “
Miller had already shown an improvement in pace during Free 3, but not enough to be able to aspire to a front row. With the weather that for tomorrow is fearful of rain, therefore a wet race, starting from the front has and will have the advantages of him.
“The work with Pecco worked well. I actually managed to set a good time this morning, but I needed something more. On the second lap I managed to stay behind Pecco and, as I said, keep up with him in that lap. and seeing him drive was really impressive. I was pushing, but to be in the back and see someone driving like that is something impressive. “
“It’s nice to hear again how much Ducati is taken into consideration after a start in which you asked us what the problems were and when we would return to fighting for the victories. I had said that the Ducati 2022 would arrive and it is improving race after race, we’ll see how it will go tomorrow for the weather, but we will definitely try “, concluded the Australian rider.
