Enea Bastianini is the revelation driver of the start of this season, with two races won when at the beginning he was not even among the main favorites. According to the general classification of the MotoGP, the Gresini team rider is the one who is going faster than all the five Ducati riders who have the 2022 version, while the Romagna rider rides a Desmosedici from last year that got the most on the podium.
Used for more than a year on many circuits, the GP21 is more successful and docile than the new bike, according to several riders. When the Gresini rider was asked about the disparities he perceives compared to other Ducati riders, he replied that he didn’t know if the difference was in technique or style.
“The other riders have a very different style from mine. Jack Miller is very close to my style and I often compare my data with his. For me, the GP21 is very similar to the GP22. They are very close, I think there is not a big difference, at the moment they are not at a disadvantage, ”said Bastianini after the Austin race.

Jack Miller, on the other hand, is more assertive on this issue. For the official Ducati rider, it is thanks to his style that Bastianini managed to achieve the best results of the team this year: “If I knew how he makes a difference, I would too! He is good in every aspect. When he overtakes, it seems like he does it effortlessly. He has a very particular style, he manages to make the bike move and stay calm on it, this thing works well. Then of course he is very small, so he is also very fast on the straight. He also knows how to stop the bike almost perfectly ”.
For Miller, Bastianini’s two successes are more the result of his riding style than of a well-proven Ducati: “Last year he had the GP19 and the problem was the same. In Austin he did exactly the same thing last year, only the result changed, in 2021 he was sixth. This is him, the way he goes on the gas is incredible ”.
“For some reason he doesn’t use the rear of the bike, which is my big problem. The system for running very smoothly, is solid and fast. This is the best thing. If I could try to copy his style … I’ve been running here for seven or eight years, I’ve tried but still can’t, so I’ll try to investigate this. “
