The partnership between MotoGP and Michelin seems to have become an almost indissoluble bond and will actually be like that for at least five more seasons. The agreement for the exclusive supply of premium class tires between the French company and Dorna Sports has in fact been renewed until 2026. A three-year extension of the contract which will therefore see the partnership reach the decade of collaboration.
The giant from Clermont-Ferrand became the sole supplier of the 2016 MotoGP and since then the level of competition has become increasingly tight in the premier category of the World Championship. From race to race, we see the records of the tracks broken, but also those of the distance in the race. Without forgetting that the ten closest top 15 in history have all been recorded since 2018, and even four of these in the 2021 season.
As part of the agreement, Michelin will also continue to be featured on trackside signage at every event, as well as being title sponsor of at least one Grand Prix in each season for the duration of the contract.
“We are very happy with the results obtained since Michelin’s return to MotoGP and today we have, of course, extended our partnership with Dorna Sports. We are particularly proud of the technological advances made with our products, as well as of the many records beaten together with our partners.” , said Florent Ménégaux, CEO of Michelin.
“This championship offers fans a captivating spectacle, and is accessible via digital platforms unprecedented in motorsport. Being a partner of MotoGP therefore represents a precious opportunity for Michelin to involve the public and the actors of the category in its vision, in its brand, in the its tires and its innovation “.
“For Michelin, motorsport is a laboratory that fosters the transfer of its experience and sustainable solutions for the benefit of all,” he concluded.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, also made no secret of his satisfaction: “We are very proud to continue our partnership with Michelin until at least 2026. Michelin has been a vital partner for MotoGP ever since it became the tire supplier for the premier class in 2016, helping us to create one of the greatest eras in the history of motorcycle Grand Prix “.
“I am delighted that we will achieve a decade of collaboration and I hope we can continue to build together on this incredible foundation. This agreement is fantastic news for all of us in the championship,” he added.
