Jorge Martin managed to conclude the MotoGP Argentine Grand Prix satisfactorily. After the incident with Marc Marquez at Portimao, the Spaniard arrived at Termas de Río Hondo with an even greater desire to score points for the championship, which he achieved twice. On Saturday, in the Sprint, the Pramac Racing rider managed to finish in eighth position, while on Sunday he finished fifth after overtaking several riders in the middle of the standings.
Martin concluded the weekend satisfied, not only with what happened on the Argentine circuit, but also with what awaits him in the 2023 season. The Spaniard is aware that the basis of his Ducati Desmosedici GP23, which this year has proven to be the bike to beat, it’s good enough to keep fighting for the rest of the year.
“We have a very good base, in the dry I was very, very fast here in Argentina,” Martin explained to Motorsport.com after the race on Sunday. “The bad luck was that each session took place in different conditions and it was complicated for everyone. But we have a solid base that satisfies us at all circuits. So I’m calm, because I think we can do very well in Austin,” he said. commented.

The #89 is already thinking about next week’s United States Grand Prix, even if he elaborated on the sensations experienced at Termas: “It was a solid result after last year, when I struggled a lot in the wet. I don’t know why I didn’t have this confidence. But I managed to do a good race. Starting a little behind, because I was twelfth at the beginning, I managed to set a good pace and with confidence we overtook the other riders. In the end I got a fifth position that I think very much good for the championship and for my confidence in the future,” he said.
“We had to deal mainly with the rear tyre. From the beginning there wasn’t a lot of grip and I noticed that I had to manage it a lot. The pace depended a bit on the grip, in the middle of the race it was very good, but in the end I was pretty messed up. But I’m happy with the position, we got good points,” he added.
Finally, Martin wanted to refer to the state of his ankle, which is progressing positively and should be in good condition for Austin: “It’s swollen, in the end there were many operations on that ankle. But I’m fine. Maybe it’s 98% , but it’s much better than when I arrived at Termas on Tuesday. So I’m happy, because I think I’ll be perfect for the next race.”
