Marc Marquez has a special relationship with Buriram. In the only two editions disputed, those of 2018 and 2019, he achieved two successes, becoming and remaining undefeated on the Thai track before it was removed from the MotoGP calendar for 2 years in a row due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, after the terrible injury that first kept him away from two wheels for some time and then saw him employed intermittently between an arm operation and the next, the Catalan driver has the opportunity to return to racing on a of the tracks where over the last few years he has been able to extract the best from himself.
This year, however, Marc arrives in Buriram, home of the Thailand MotoGP Grand Prix, with completely different expectations from those of recent years. The Jerez de la Frontera accident that happened in 2020 forced him to take a long, difficult, painful and tortuous path that has yet to be completed.
Marc was back in the race last weekend at Motegi, scoring first pole in the wet and then an exceptional fourth place in the dry, if we consider everything he has had to face over the past 24 months.

Being competitive both in qualifying and in the race is the basis for the 8-time world champion on two wheels, but Buriram must not be a stage to be won at any cost, but another piece that can help him and, above all, Honda. to set the stage for 2023.
It is precisely next season that will be the real goal of the Honda rider, so much so that it was he who said it on the eve of the Thai event.
“The goal of the Buriram weekend is to put it all together, to have another weekend as we managed to do in Japan,” said the Catalan.
“Of course I would like to fight for the top positions as it happened at Motegi, but I don’t think it’s realistic to set this type of goal for this weekend.”
“Also being forced to the front is not our current goal. We are here, we are going to Buriram, to continue building. I have great memories of 2018 and 2019, especially in the last season we raced and I can’t wait to come back and feel the affection of the fans once more. “
