Ducati hoped that delaying the announcement of Pecco Bagnaia’s future teammate in its factory team would allow all parties to enjoy a quiet weekend at Mugello, then taking advantage of the three-week break before the Dutch Grand Prix to put down on paper the choice between Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez.
As soon as the MotoGP caravan arrived in Tuscany, however, the Gazzetta dello Sport dropped the bomb, revealing that the Borgo Panigale manufacturer would now be targeting the current world champion. Motorsport.com, however, understands that the Madrilenian has not yet signed his contract, because there is still one piece missing: convincing the eight-time world champion to remain in Ducati orbit and with a Desmosedici GP in the factory version, but with the colors of Prima Pramac Racing, which could link the choice of continuing with Ducati or moving to Yamaha precisely to the possibility of having the Spanish rider among its ranks.
Proposal that #93 seems to have sent back to the sender as soon as he set foot in the paddock of the Tuscan up and down hill. In an interview given to DAZN, in fact, Marc specified that for the moment he has had no indications from the Bolognese brand, but above all that he does not consider Pramac a viable option.

“Ducati didn’t tell me that I wasn’t the one chosen. I’m doing my best on the track, because Pramac is a good team, but Pramac isn’t an option for me, because it’s not like that. I’m a man with clear ideas” , Marquez said.
“I want the latest version of the bike and, if possible, with an official team. If you have the official bike you have more benefits, and if you do it with an official team, it’s even easier”, he added.
Then he highlighted that it is inevitable that there may be some internal struggle, whatever Ducati’s choice: “Naturally harmony off the track is easy to maintain. Inside, when there are two strong teammates, everyone fights for their own interests. It is like this and always has been, and anyone who says otherwise is a liar. Always respecting, but fighting for their own interests.”
