KTM will take a further step forward in its commitment to the MotoGP World Championship in the 2025 season. In addition to its official team, which will field Brad Binder and Pedro Acosta, the Mattighofen company will double its efforts and support its satellite structure even more, the Tech3 team, which will no longer be GasGas but will wear KTM orange and will have bikes identical to those of the official riders.
Furthermore, it should be noted that they will be driven by riders who have already won in the premier class: Maverick Vinales, after his departure from Aprilia, and Enea Bastianini, after being one of the victims of the end of the Ducati soap opera, who opted to promote Marc Marquez in his place, that is, next to Pecco Bagnaia in the official team.
However, it must be said that this year the Tech3 team is already on par with the official KTM team from a technical point of view, regardless of the red GasGas livery which will disappear next season. According to Pit Beirer, director of KTM Motorsports, this is one of the keys to Acosta’s success in his debut in the premier class. The “Shark of Mazarron” managed to shine so much on the French team’s RC16 that, according to Beirer, it served to attract newcomers.
“I think we had the opportunity to test this concept through Pedro, and I think that also helped bring these riders along,” the former motocross rider emphasizes about Vinales and Bastianini. “I didn’t tell Enea that he would be the new leader of the team, but I didn’t tell Maverick either: we want both to behave well, and then these are the races, the strongest will be the captain.”
“Pedro helped us a lot to show the potential of Tech3, a factory program that gives the opportunity to perform at the maximum. I’m sure that, without him, we wouldn’t have been able to convince the two riders to choose this path.”
“This is another step in our program, to take KTM even further forward. That’s why we decided to have everyone wear orange, because our goal is still to work on this project of having four official riders,” he continued.
“Our ultimate goal is that the riders don’t care which of the four positions they are in. If the bike is good, if the technical chief is good and if the people around him are good, then that’s the package. With Hervé Poncharal , we have a fantastic adventure companion, who we trust completely. He is one of our guys, so for us there is not his team on one side and ours on the other”, he concluded.
